Support Groups

  • Rebuild – 10-week workshop to support those experiencing loss of a loved one, which has a group specifically for child loss. Groups each Fall and Spring. Includes a stand-alone “Hard Days of the Holidays” (week 10).

  • Marsha’s Heart – shepherd widows that are entrusted to us, be an example of restoration and hope, and offer community so they don’t have to navigate grief alone. (Rockwall/North Dallas – TX)
  • Broken Halos Haven – A ministry for young Christian widows and their children, offering no-cost grief retreats at a guest home in Old Town Lewisville. (Lewisville, TX)
  • Faith & Grief Ministries – Offers monthly Christian grief luncheons/support gatherings (e.g., at First Presbyterian Dallas) and faith-based weekend retreats in Texas (e.g., Mo Ranch). (Dallas + Retreats in TX)
  • STEPHEN MINISTRY – Stephen Ministry provides confidential Christian care, support, and encouragement for emotional and spiritual needs to anyone. MANY local churches offer Stephen Ministry. This is Woodcreek Church contact info. (Richardson, TX)

  • GriefShare – similar to Rebuild and available in many area churches. It is a 13-week group (mixed) that walks through the grief process.

Julie Thomas has a degree in secondary education from Baylor University. She taught and coached for nine years at the secondary level before serving 30 years for Real Options, a pregnancy clinic in Allen, Texas. Her passion is equipping volunteers to talk with women dealing with an unplanned pregnancies. Julie has been married to Marcus for 30+ years, and they have four children: Rachael, Robin, Sara, and Bryan. In 2017, Julie’s life changed forever when she lost her 16-year-old son. Learning to deal with loss in Julie’s life led her to begin a grief ministry, become a certificate in Mental Health Coaching with an understanding of Grief and Loss.
